Karnataka PU Board conducted second year biology exam on 14 - march 2019.Biology is scoring subject but so many students are complaining that paper is tough and its a NEET level questions were asked in exam so demanding for grace marks and many are demanding for re-exam as many students tend to fail in biology exam.
Karnataka PU Board got complaints by helpline and emails about biology paper.
According to Board paper setting rule , one must set the paper on the basis of following rule
Easy questions must involve in question paper of about 28 marks , Average of about 28 ,marks and Difficult level questions of 14 marks can be set in the exam paper but so many lectures and students are complaining that paper is not set on the basis of Paper setting rule.
If we talk about Weight age to Objectives:
Knowledge based questions must carry 42 Marks
Understanding based questions must carry 33 Marks
Applications based questions must carry 15 Marks
Skill based questions must carry 15 Marks.
As per complain given by Lectures and students, percentage of skill based questions is more and difficulty level questions are of NEET and CET level. So lectures and students are demanding for re exam or department should give grace marks.
NOTE: Chances of Conducting Re-Exam is very Less
Why should PU Board give grace marks?
Students are demanding for grace marks for difficulty level questions asked in 5 Marks section,because papers is not set by according to exam paper setting rule.
For KCET result to display, KCET considers 50% of marks obtained in theory exams so if grace marks not allotted then it will be huge loss to students.
What PU Board Director replied?
Upon receiving many complaints by students and lectures, Karnataka PU Board Director constituted a committee of three experts to review the paper if complaints are valid then they will decide whether to give grace marks or not.
Meeting is held on friday comprising 3 subject experts and decision will be announced on Monday.
If committee deems the question paper is very tough and recommends for grace marks then board will give grace marks to students who attempted questions.
Actual rule for grace marks?
According to Karnataka PU Board rule, grace marks will be given for the following reasons
1) If the question is out of syllabus.
2) ambiguous.
3) or inconsistent.
Conclusion : If all questions are set as per the blue print and all the answers are found in NCERT Text book then grace marks may not be awarded.
In case if grace marks is announced by the Board then marks will only be allotted upon attempting the question to which grace has been awarded.

The biology question paper is very tough some of the students found
The question paper is not belongs to NCERT and from there syllabus also.so requesting to give Grace. Mark or Re Exam.see this is your fault.all the question belongs to NEET/cET so if any one student.
